In Conversation with... Ep 2: Dan Jackson

In this episode of In Conversation With... We speak to one of the region's best known historians and author of 'The Northumbrians' Dan Jackson.

His worked was received with acclaim and respected by historians nationwide. As ever we discuss identity and psyche in the region, but I wanted to discuss more specifically the role of the military up here. Why is it such a hotbed of recruitment (We've all seen that Royal Navy advert) and why did the area garner such a reputation for high quality armaments and ships? We explore all of this in this episode.

You can follow Dan on his Twitter page here. His book, 'The Northumbrians: North-East England and its People', can be bought direct from the publisher here or from Keel Row Books, an independent bookshop in North Shields.
