Coals Archive.

The Coals Archive is our biggest project to date, with the aim of documenting every known coal working in the North East.

With the collieries fading out of living memory, it has never been a more important time to ensure new generations understand the sacrifices made, and how our landscapes came to be. The pits shaped everything, from our region's politics to public parks and the rows we walk along. For this reason it is only right we remember the men, women and children whose greatest neighbour was the coal face.
