HER Description

NEHL - It is referenced in newspapers in the 1880s that Waldridge Fell was used as a grounds for bowling. This is is advertised in the Newcastle Chronicle of 06/06/1888 by Charles Mallady, put up entries for 1s 6d each for a prize of £1 10s on 23rd June. Entrants were to meet at Mr Thomas Pearson's Swan Inn, which was close to the A Pit at Waldridge and adjacent to the fell.

The exact location is not referenced on maps.
