HER Description

NEHL - Welfare's 2nd ground could be found off Hexham Road once the first ground had to be moved after construction of the adjacent motorway.

Throckley Welfare did reasonably well - In 1931 they joined the North Eastern League Division Two and were champions in the 33-34 season. They were promoted to Division One. Other teams in this league included South Shields, Spennymoor, Darlington and Blyth Spartans.
