Shadforth St Cuthberts FC

HER Description

NEHL - Shadforth St Cuthbert's likely played their home games at the Rectory Gardens between St Cuthbert's Church and the Rectory. The ground was used for various community activities, and is rendered the most likely candidate.

St Cuthberts played in Division II of the Durham Central League amongst teams like Leasingthorne Ottos, Cornforth Villa, Sedgefield United and Tudhoe St Charles. It appears a few of the teams were of religious origin.

There is little information on the team, and only pop up in Newspaper fixtures in the first few years of the 1910s. St Cuthberts is also a very well used name for local football teams in the North East, which makes it difficult to pinpoint the team at Shadforth. We can presume they were defunct within the same decade.
