HER Description

NEHL - Willington Athletic's last ground could be found on Howdon Lane, close to the railway station which is now the Metro. Facilities were primitive with a small clubhouse on the western side of the pitch. The ground was not in use for very long as it was not shown in use on the 1890s and had disappeared by the 1930s as the railways further expanded around it. Aerial photographs from the 50s support this.
