A field a few hundred metres south of Lowick was the home of their village Shrovetide at some time before the 19th century, and potentially as far back as the 14th century.

This is highlighted by the Ordnance Survey maps and its associated name books. Football Moor is labelled on the map itself from 1866, while its associated appendix states it is an "arable field situated on the farm of Lowick House, deriving the name, from the game of Football, having been played in it, former times". With certainty this wasn't the rules-based football as we know it today, but some form or variant of Shrovetide - likely that played at Alnwick which has germinated into the rurality.

The name continues to be featured in the 1930s, though disappears by the mid 20th century.
