HER Description

NEHL - Records show at least one cricket match was played on the grounds of Lambton Park in the 1860s, though likely more. Working men from Chester le Street were given permission to stage a cricket match on the grounds by the Earl of Durham. The estate's staff 'mingled' among spectators for the Chester against Whitburn match.
