Davy Lamp (Kelloe) CC (1934)

HER Description

NEHL - Contemporary newspapers from the 1930s report the Davy Lamp Club found a new playing pitch at Church Farm in Kelloe, along with the club having "a credit balance of £11 2s". The club is named after the Davy Lamp public house, south of Church Kelloe. There are couple of fields between the farmstead and the railway between East Hetton Colliery and East Hetton, so it is likely one of these. The club now appears defunct.

The field can vaguely be seen on Historic England aerial photography, but not well enough to warrant certainty of its location.
