HER Description

NEHL - A recreation ground was situated here after the closure of Hylton Iron Works, with the site being used for at least football and bowls. Aerial imagery from 1947 shows the bowling green and football markings at the site. There were some football clubs in the area at the time, though it's inconclusive who played here if any.
