Gateshead NER

HER Description

NEHL - The Gateshead NER Football Club started life with its home ground at Park Lane. This was the case until 1893, when the North Eastern Railway redeveloped the site to build a goods warehouse. The NER agreed to move the club to a patch of land they owned near Bensham Railway Station, near Askew Road at Tyne Vale Terrace.

Gateshead NER played in the combination league alongside other such sides as Leadgate Exiles, Walker Neptune, Jarrow and South Shields.
