NEHL - Mr Emmerson, of Willow Green, lent a field he owned to Frosterley CC for friendly matches between other village teams in the region. A piece from the Darlington & Richmond Herald from June 1873 reports on such a match on the 14th, with Stanhope gaining an easy victory.

It can be concluded with relative certainty it was a field adjacent to the main road and the farm.
