NEHL - A football ground stood adjacent to Avon Crescent between Chilton Moor and High Dubmire in the 1940s as per aerial imagery from 1948.

It almost certainly stood here in the 1930s, however it is not illustrated on Ordnance Survey maps at this time. It is likely the ground was used by Chilton Moor FC or Chilton Athletic, who played in local tournaments like the Durham Challenge Cup against teams like Waterhouses and Belmont.

The ground seems to have closed by the 1960s and is apparent on Ordnance Survey maps. Therefore the ground may have been used by Bankhead Wanderers.
