NEHL - The home ground of Ferryhill Athletic. They were a splinter club of Dean Bank Villa FC, who played in an unknown location north of the town. The ground was leased by a Mr Foster, a local farmer who owned the field next to some allotments on Darlington Road, on the grounds it was to be used for sporting activity. In the same year, it was acquired by the team and a limited company was formed in July. George Charlton, their centre back, became secretary.

Ferryhill Athletic played in such tournaments as the Durham Senior Cup and the Northern League against teams such as Eston and Stanley United.

Ferryhill left Darlington Road in 1994 as a result of financial difficulties and ground-shared with Brandon Utd. It was a fairly small ground, with a small tea hut with a frame from the Dean and Chapter Colliery and an austere stand with half a dozen rows of seats.
