HER Description

NEHL - A football ground was constructed in the 20s or 30s just south of Fleece Terrace. There were two teams at the time in Edmondsley - Edmondsley Temperance FC and Edmondsley PM AFC. One or both of these clubs were certainly playing here. There was another recreation ground just off Congburn Bank.

Aerial imagery from 1947 shows the ground, but there are no markings or clear indicators of football played here except the fact it was landscaped.

There was a club in Edmondsley during the 1880s called Edmondsley Strangers, but unfortunately their home ground is not conclusive. It may possibly be this site.
