HER Description

NEHL - Cock fighting is reported to have taken place at Claypath a year after the act was criminalised. In April 1836, the Durham Chronicle reported that the practice would take place "in the house, or on the premises, of a publican in Claypath" The names of the different birds who were fighting were handed out in a pamphlet.
