HER Description

NEHL - A greyhound stadium was active at this site from 1934 until 2017. The stadium was placed here for entertainment for nearby workers at Easington Colliery. The first meeting was held on Christmas Day and continued regularly on Sundays until 2017.

Lord Haw Haw famously quoted the stadium in a radio address during WWII. He stated "This week the people of Easington will be eating greyhounds not racing them".
