HER Description

NEHL - Ushaw College was founded by scholars from the English College in Douai who fled from France after the revolution. As a result, a few distinct ball games were imported and the courts somewhat survive today. Cat is one of them, but other games like Keeping Up, Racquet and Handball were played within "the bounds" - a complex to host all of these interesting and unique sports. The bounds are listed Grade II*
