A field a couple of miles north of Chatton was the home of their village Shrovetide at some time before the 19th century, and potentially as far back as the 14th century.

This is highlighted by the Ordnance Survey maps. Football Moor is labelled on the map itself from 1866, though its associated appendix only states it to be "two fields yielding rough pasture". The name however will certainly derive from truth, or folklore, that Shrovetide took place here. With certainty this wasn't the rules-based football as we know it today, but some form or variant of Shrovetide - likely that played at Alnwick which has germinated into the rurality.

It is still referred to as Football Moor today.
