HER Description

NEHL - A rifle club set up next to Hedley Memorial Hall in 1906 used a 'dene near White House Farm' as its outdoor range, which is likely Fawside Dene. There was a local league with indoor matches in winter and outdoor in summer. The team were successful, winning the Low Fell Yemanry Cup and the George Renwick Challenge Bowl. The info is from a local history publication, though the name of this and the author are not cited.
