HER Description

NEHL - A football ground was opened at The Middles at some point in the mid 20th century. It stands on former moorland, then unclaimed land once housing development sprawled to the area.

It is the home ground of Craghead FC and Sunday league side Craghead Legion nowadays. Another Craghead team, Craghead Colliery Welfare FC, had played in the Northern Alliance league in the 50s alongside North Shields Rovers, Amble and Morpeth Town.
