Burnopfield Golf Club

HER Description

NEHL - A 9 hole golf course stood just north of Tanfield Village between the early 20th century and World War Two.

The course is evident on Ordnance Surveys from the 1910s, showing the pavilion along the footpath from Barcus Close Farm. It was modest, with only a few dozen members up until the 1910s and 80 by the mid 1930s. The club also had its own licensed clubhouse.

The war likely suspended any activities and laid dormant after the war also.
