Blagdon Hall and its surrounding grounds hosted its own cricket club from around 1888, with a pavilion constructed this year on the site. It was erected by Sir Matthew White Ridley MP, with 80 couples gracing the opening for a dance.
The club played local opposition, often closely associated with Ridley associated. A match is noted in August 1893 between Blagdon Park and Blyth, noted as one of "the most important" of the season. Blyth were captained by a son of Sir Matthew. Other matches were played against other compositions like Bothal, "Mr Mitchell's XI" from the Morpeth & Mitford area as well as Hastings CC in 1895.
The cricket club appear to have ventured into football from 1905, officially changing their name to the Blagdon Park Cricket and Football Club. Facilities were shared, and likely just provided them another game to play over the winter months. In the meantime, Ridley's annual fancy dress ball continued at the pavilion well into the 20th century.
A new pavilion was provided in June 1908, with an extension opened with a tea room in 1963. They continue to operate a side, having played in the A Division of the Alnwick and District League in the 90s and presently the Northumberland Cricket League. Football has however ceased.
