NEHL - A cricket ground home to Birtley Cricket Club could be found at Birtley Lane, now home to Birtley Golf Club. The ground was in existance for a relatively short amount of time, only appearing on maps in the late 1910s and early 20s. By the 1930s the ground seems to have been lost in favour of the neighbouring golf club. Contemporary news articles indicate various fetes and fairs were held here also.
