HER Description

Belford featured its own hard tennis court from at least the 1940s until at least the 1960s, as per aerial photography and Ordnance Survey maps. The court is an attractive and well made one, backing onto the allotments and the yard of St Mary's Church. As a result it does not appear private and likely for the use of the whole community.

There was a Belford Tennis Club in the 1920s, however they appear to be a lawn tennis group. The club were rejuvenated in the 1940s, which may have resulted in the opening of this court.

The court is now developed on and is a private residence.
