Barnard Castle CC

HER Description

NEHL - Likely one of the region's oldest cricket clubs. Barnard Castle CC was established in 1832, though they played at various grounds before this one. The club started playing here in 1863. The ground was fairly austere at the turn of the 19th century, featuring just a small pavilion on its north west corner. The current pavilion was built in the middle of the 20th century.

There were two former grounds, Albert Cricket Ground and Woolhouse. The exact locations of these grounds are unknown (research is ongoing!).
