HER Description

NEHL - A bowling green was maintained on the grounds of Auckland Castle from at least the 19th century through to the 20th century. The green is visible on the first echelon of the Ordnance Survey as well as the 1890s editions. In the 20th century it ceases to be illustrated as a bowling green.
