HER Description

NEHL - A rifle range was situated on Riding Haugh in the 1890s. It was a 300 yard long course, with positions at The Cradles facing Allendale Brewery. It is not known whether this was for military purposes or recreation, however a ton of volunteer and formal military training took place around Allendale. There was also a rifle range on the eastern moors just outside of Allendale.

The site is now home to Allendale Cricket Club.
