Description

A Raft Yard was found at this location in the 1850s, as per the illustration on the First Edition of the Ordnance Survey.

It shows a rectangular reservoir with a small lock, complete with two jetties, a tramway and two ancillary buildings.

The yard had disappeared by the 1890s, though part of the site still retained a pool of water as well as the quay.
