Our first Deep Dive walk of the 2026 season will be a scenic spring jaunt around the Quayside, starting at Bottle Bank and looping round via the Ouseburn. A proper gateway into the world of Tyneside history - railways, coal, poverty and piety.

Deep Dives is a concept by the North East Heritage Library to take historical walks away from the grandeur and into the nitty gritty. Sports, industry, utilities and street furniture all feature in this series of informal walks which aim to capture the imagination and to take a second glance at the history we might not catch first time.
You will receive a free, professionally printed handbook which will supplement our walk with maps and photographs to really gain an insight into our surroundings.
