Description (or HER record listing)
NEHL - Paddock Mire Colliery was situated north east of Wackerfield village from the first half of the 19th century. It was a relatively small working, with around 5 ancillary buildings in a central complex. By the 1890s the pit was disused. A "New Paddock Mire Colliery" had opened a few hundred metres north, but was also disused by the 1890s. This working had been repurposed into a pottery at the turn of the century, though was also disused by 1914.
