Description (or HER record listing)

NEHL - Two shafts appear on the 1861 Ordnance Survey as 'old', signifying they were out of use by the mid 19th century. Both stood just north of West Stanley Colliery so may be related, or may have been locally used for the village of Stanley. This shaft is still in a small wooded area.
