Description (or HER record listing)

NEHL - A small working with a shaft was location directly west of the main Scremerston Colliery complex and is likely inconnected with it. The Ordnance Survey labels it as "Rise Pit, No. 16", meaning it may have been one of a sequence of ventilation shafts. There are two small ancillary building on the surface close to the shaft, with only a road connection.
