Description (or HER record listing)
NEHL - An old coal shaft is shown as disused on the mid 19th century Ordnance Survey maps. It is later shown on 1890s maps, meaning the shaft entrance was still extant by the turn of the 20th century. It was close to Ouston Bank Farm, and may be related to the Ouston Colliery pits.
