Description (or HER record listing)

An area of possible former coal workings is visible as earthworks on historical air photos. Most of these remains appear to have been levelled on the lidar imagery is visible over an amorphous area of approximately 11.5 hectares. They comprise small, closely-spaced pits with spoil in between giving the ground surface a distinct pock-marked appearance. There is no note of these features on the Ordnance Survey map of 1864 or later editions.
