Description (or HER record listing)

The sites of two former coal pits are marked by spoil heaps from which tramways lead southwards in the direction of Sunny Rigg farm. The two pits are depicted on the first edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map of 1866 respectively as 'Pit' and 'Level (coal)'.
