Description (or HER record listing)

This is the site of a coal mine. Coal mining is known to have been going on here from 1823 to 1841. However, it is unknown when this mining finally ended. The map evidence suggests that it had finished by 1899 - but it unclear why the 1860s mapping of the area should have not depicted the site. The nearby Felkington New Pit was the successor to this coal mine.
