Description (or HER record listing)

A number of trial pits for coal are noted in this general area. It was the Lickar Main Coal Seam that was exploited here in the area west of the Ancroft Tile Works. These trials were made in the 1870s. Other industrial activities are noted in the general area of surface (clay) and below ground (stone and coal) industries.
