Description (or HER record listing)

A coal mine is noted as "Old" here on the first Ordnance Survey mapping of the area. It is unknown when this started work; it is likely of Post Medieval 19th century age. Since it was marked as "Old" in 1866 it is therefore likely that this was disused by this time. Such small coal mines are common in the north of Northumberland where there were a number of small seams.
