Description (or HER record listing)

This is the site of a small coal pit. It probably was a bellpit used to fuel the nearby tile kiln. It is dated to the 1860s when recorded as a "Coal Pit" - later mapping by the Ordnance Survey recorded this as "Old" and so presumably as disused.
