Description (or HER record listing)
NEHL - A small coal shaft was sunk west of Medomsley village pre-1857 and was abandoned by the 1890s. Due to its proximity with Medomsley Colliery it may be connected with this working. There is no visible sign of any railway or tramway connection, and appears to be a standalone shaft.
The Sons of Temperance Hall was built on or near this shaft in the 1890s.
