Description (or HER record listing)

NEHL - One of two coal levels can be seen at this location in Mawsfield Wood. The 1861 map shows a steep earthwork leading into the horizontal shaft which can again be seen on the 1890s maps. The drift was still visible and potentially in use until the 1930s, when it is eventually shown as 'old'.
