Description (or HER record listing)

NEHL - A coal shaft is labelled as old on the 19th century Ordnance Survey maps near Ebchester Station. This indicates it is out of use by the 1850s.

It looks to have been situated within a small site on a footpath between Broom Hill and the Allendale Cottages. It sat on a harsh gradient as well as next to what appears to be a small waste heap.

Little else is known about this pit, though may have connected to nearby Hunters Colliery or perhaps one further north at Medomsley.
