Description (or HER record listing)

NEHL - A drift mine at this location operated in the second half of the 19th century. It was linked by waggonway to Beechburn Colliery, so was likely operated by Strakers & Love in the 1860s. The waggonway was severed by the 1890s, only serving about half the distance so a separate drift mine closer to Crook.
