Description (or HER record listing)

NEHL - There is a large cluster of drifts extending from Whinny Hill eastwards towards Hown's Wood. There is 6 in total illustrated on the 1890s Ordnance Survey Map. They were noted as 'old' by the late 1890s. The levels were in operation in the middle of the 19th century, with an engine house operating just east of the Hownsgill Viaduct.
