Description (or HER record listing)

NEHL - An earlier iteration of Crake Scar Colliery stood here in the mid 19th century, before it moved slightly north to a roomier location. This pit had little facilities and no rail access, just a few auxiliary buildings at ground level and surrounded by a large number of ventilation shafts. It does not appear on the 1890s maps.
