Description (or HER record listing)
NEHL - This is the site of a 1920s drift mine, located just east of Bothal Barns and north east of Bothal village. There appears to be little info on this mine, but it may have been operated by the Ashington Coal Company. Curiously, the mine does not appear on Ordnance Survey maps, though a possibly related ventilation shaft does.
A related building still remains from when it was operating, which apparently still contains the capped shaft.

Ordnance Survey, 1924

The entrance to Bothal Barns drift was at this private residence.
