Description (or HER record listing)
This Coal Pit is marked as ‘Old’ on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey plan, suggesting that it was probably out of use by 1857.
NEHL - The shaft was still in situ by the late 1940s, as seen on aerial photography. It had laid dormant for at least a century, in a small wooded area north of Greenwell House which has since been demolished. It isn't known whether there are any remains today.
