Description (or HER record listing)

Mid 20th century open cast coal workings are visible as earthworks on historical air photos. This activity impacted on an area of approximately 45 hectares but all land has now been infilled and relandscaped. A circular feature appears as a cropmark within this area at NZ2243 8641, the photograph post dates the mining activity and for this reason the cropmark has been dismissed from having any archaeological signficance.
