NEHL - A Quoits ground was situated at the Woodman's Arms, Fellside in the 1850s. A piece from the Newcastle Chronicle of 11/07/1859 announces a match between Christopher Dixon of Andrew's House (nr Marley Hill) and Matthew Park of the Felling. They were to play at 18 yards distance with stiff sticking clay ends, 41 up, each to set a hob for £10 a side.

The ground was likely in the yard situated directly east of the house itself. The public house is still insitu and retains the name also.
